We are glad you found us

The Nashville Calligraphers Guild was formed in 1981 to foster the continued study, practice, and use of calligraphy among its members and to encourage community awareness of the art of calligraphy. To this end, the Guild meets five times a year, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors workshops and related activities.

Our Guild consists of approximately 80 members from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Missouri and Mississippi. Meetings are held five times each year. Visitors are always welcome to all meetings.

Meetings & Workshops

We meet five times each year. Each meeting consists of a meet-and-greet time, business meeting, and a program related to some facet of calligraphy. Check the Meeting Calendar for more information.

The Guild also typically offers workshops four to five times each year aimed at all levels of skill. Our teachers include internationally renowned calligraphers as well as the Guild’s own very talented calligraphers. We have many workshops planned for 2024. See our Workshops Calendar page for additional information.

We welcome anyone who has an interested in the lettering arts. Take a look around our web site, and join us at our next meeting!

Scribehaven retreat

Our annual Scribehaven retreat will be February 2024, at Lake Barkley Resort. Check back often for more details.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone interested in calligraphy. In addition to the standard membership level, we offer a student membership level for full-time high school and college students. Our annual membership dues are $30 per year for a regular membership and $15 for student membership. Membership dues are for a membership year that runs from June 1 – May 31. New members are welcome to join at any time during a membership year, but all memberships are retroactive to the beginning of a given membership year. (As an example, a person who joins NCG in May will be entitled to all the publications for the current membership year but must renew on June 1.)

We sponsor an annual weekend retreat during the month of February at Lake Barkley State Resort, Kentucky. The Guild also exhibits members’ artwork in annual non-juried shows.
